‘Hello, my name’s Janetta – I love to dance and to encourage and inspire others. My love of dance has kept me fit and healthy almost by accident and I hope it does for you too.
Currently at Rochester Dance Junction, I’m offering Pilates classes and Fitsteps.
From performing with a Cuban dance company in Santiago de Cuba, to living in Buenos Aires; studying and improving my Argentinian Tango – dance adventures have shaped my sunny outlook and my fitness.
I’ve trained directly with the founders of the dance-fitness classes; with Ian Waite for FitSteps and with Tom Dwyer for the brand new Tomboogie.
Alongside dancing, I love Pilates for keeping in shape. It’s helped me go from an office-based management role to the dance floor as I juggled these two career paths. I now teach Pilates mat work classes from beginner through to advanced level.
My Pilates teacher training was with Joanne Cobbe of JPilates. Joanne is dedicated to teaching Pilates and was previously the Principle Tutor for The Pilates Institute. As an associate member of JPilates, I have access to excellent advice and continuous professional development.

The fundamentals class is suitable for beginners through to intermediate levels.

Pilates-Absolute Beginners Course: TBC
£45 for 6 weeks
Pilates-Fundamentals: Every Wednesday 7.30pm - 8.30pm
£30 for 4 sessions valid for 4 weeks OR £40 for 4 sessions valid for 8 weeks

What to wear:
Comfortable exercise clothing. You can choose to have bare feet or wear pilates/yoga socks which have nice grippy bits on the bottom.
FitSteps® is the fabulous dance fitness class combining the graceful steps of Ballroom and the uptempo steps of Latin dances.
The programme has been designed by Strictly Come Dancing stars Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe together with six-time world champion swimmer Mark Foster. They teamed up with a group of health and fitness professionals and designed FitSteps to be a programme that is fast, effective and fun.
FitSteps is easy to follow and appeals to everyone, even those who think they cant dance. You’ll be dancing Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Quickstep, Waltz, Paso Doble, Samba and Tango - and you wont even need a partner or previous dance experience.
What to wear:
Dance trainers and exercise clothing are good - or add a bit of ballroom bling. Take your own choice between the supportive dance trainers available - ask for trainers with multi-directional tread so that you can turn easily.
Great for all levels of fitness!
